Our Milestones
1947
Hyundai Engineering & Construction Company is founded by Chung Ju Yung.
1967
Hyundai Motor Company is formed.
1989
The Hyundai Motor Company broadened its core line of automobiles and established a subsidiary in San Diego, CA called Hyundai Precision America Incorporated to focus on transportation equipment.
1991
Introduced steel containers and chassis.
1994
Launched dry van trailers and became the first manufacturer in North America to earn ISO 9001 Certification. This certification has been renewed each year, showing commitment to high standards and quality
1998
Continued to push the boundry of innovation and was one of the first manufacturers to offer hot-dipped galvanization, prolonging durability of trailers.
1999
Invested in reefers and introduced HT ThermoTech® refrigerated trailers.
2001
Rebranded to Hyundai Translead to reposition itself as a new leader in the transportation industry.
2002
Expanded to include a new transmission and engine remanufacturing facility.
2006
Constructed a new multi-million-dollar, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, increasing the trailer production capacity, and catapulted the company into one of the major manufacturers in the industry.
2007
Enhanced dry van trailer models and added HT Composite® trailers with extended scuff for better protection.
2012
Invested in sustainability and eco-friendly products, which led to receiving the EPA Smartway Certification for three advanced trailer skirt models.
2013
Revolutionized the transportation industry by offering hot-dipped galvanization as a standard feature, which is considered to be one of the most innovative breakthroughs.
2014
Diversified its business by adding a new engine diecasting plant.
2016
Supporting the increasing demand for trailers, the company built the most advanced and leading-edge 360-acre manufacturing facility in North America.
2017
Became the number one trailer manufacturer and maintained market leadership by producing the most trailers in the US.
2022
Built Hyundai Translead’s Innovation Lab (iLab) to empower greater innovation and quality of products to meet customer needs.
